Congenital Deficiencies

Congenital Limb Deficiencies referred to a very broad group of conditions that affect the development and subsequent growth of a limb. Classifications systems are generally descriptive and don’t generally indicate the natural history or direct treatment.

It is for this reason that patients with either transverse (limb terminates at a point) or longitudinal (reduction or absence of an element) are carefully assessed by someone who is very familiar with the condition and understands the natural history.

  • Common limb deficiencies are Fibular Hemimelia
  • Congenital Short Femur
  • Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency
  • Tibial Hemimelia
